I may have gone into this expecting something else, and this might be the reason for my reaction, but it is a simple story with a lot of people pitching in to ensure the ultimate meeting. It is a straightforward tale, told as such in a very matter-of-fact way, and it is a momentous journey for the author, but I did not feel anything by the time I completed the book except happy for the author for finding unexpected family. It is a very personal journey of a woman who finally decides to look into her birth parents and ends up with a half-sister, and the latter turns out to be a big part of the latter half of this short book.Īlthough it was a very swift read, I did not get much satisfaction out of this. Relinquished at birth to Catholic Charities in 1959, Kathe Linn Caire adores her adoptive family and has never considered searching for her birth parents. I have seen a few non-fiction works being praised for their trek into family history and the like, and seeing this, I thought it was one such book, and I wanted to give it a shot. This was not the book I was expecting going in.
